Foreign investors divided Poland

Polish daily newspaper “Rzeczpospolita” reports that foreign investors most often place their business in Western and Southern Poland. Meanwhile, there are regions like Suwalszczyzna, Masuria or Eastern Poland where new, large enterprises are rare.

“Rzeczpospolita” gives two examples of enterprises located in industrialized South - West Poland. According to the newspaper, an American concern Pittsburgh Glass Works is launching a construction of glass factory for Mercedes. The investment is said to be worth 200 million PLN and will probably start in two weeks time. Also a Chinese company BriVictory Display Technology has invested in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The company is going to hire almost 2 thousand people in the production of LCD Television sets.

The newspaper points out that it is difficult to find such investments at the opposite part of the country.

There were special economic zones created in order to help develop regions nearby Słupsk and Suwalszczyzna. But since the beginning of the year not a single new company appeared. “Our region is an investment Poland B. We don’t even have a piece of two-lane road” – says with embarrassment Bernard Maciejewski, the President of Suwalska Special Economic Zone.

Experts emphasize that investments in Poland develop like a snow globe. New companies mostly choose their location in places where others are.
