Seven wonders of Poland
Polish daily „Rzeczpospolita” carried out its own opinion poll In order to choose seven wonders of Poland. These are results of the poll: the Salt Mine in Wieliczka, the Old Town in Toruń, the Malbork Castle, the Wawel Castle, the Elbląski Canal, the Panorama of Vistula in Toruń, the Cathedral of Cracow.
These wonders were chosen by 82 thousand people who voted via the Internet. Every person could have chosen 7 wonders. First seven of them got 120 thousand votes. Rest of them got only 80 thousand votes.
The Salt Mine in Wieliczka was the biggest favourite to win the first place. This wonder took the lead at the beginning and kept it till the end. Also Toruń was close to win the contest. The city of gingerbread cakes got only one thousand votes less than Wieliczka.
