President determined to attend EU summit
President Lech Kaczynski has reiterated his earlier announcement that he intends to attend the forthcoming EU summit in Brussels. “It is absolutely natural that both the president and the prime minister are present at a summit. There is nothing extraordinary about it. I say: let’s go together” – the president said in an interview for the private TVN24 station.
The president said he wanted to invite premier Donald Tusk for consultations tomorrow at a time convenient for the prime minister to iron out the divergences on that matter.
In an earlier statement for this station head of the prime minister’s office Slawomir Nowak said the presence of the president at the Brussels summit was not envisaged. The dispute on who will represent Poland at the summit has been going on for several days now.
