PM Tusk to host climate summit in December in Gdansk
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that nine central European states and French president Nicholas Sarkozy will meet in Gdansk on December 6 to discuss their concerns about an EU timetable for slashing greenhouse gas emissions.
“This summit will most probably bring to a conclusion the work on the most controversial issues connected with the EU climate and energy package. I will invite the prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia there as well. I am convinced that we will leave the meeting satisfied.” said Tusk.
Following his talks with Nicholas Sarkozy on the issue he also added that he believed concepts acceptable to member states concerned about the current climate package will be presented during the next meeting of the Council of the European Union in Brussels on December 11-12.
