Great redundancies

The financial crisis has already influenced Polish economy. In this situation many companies predict redundancies . So far, only big companies hava announced that almost 7,5 thousand people are going to lose their job soon.

The glassworks in Kostrzyn will dismiss 1,2 tousand workers. Another magnate from the glass branch, "Irena Glassworks" from Inowrocław wants to dismiss 350 people. "Paged Furniture" will close three production plants - 700 people may lose their job. Tele-Fonica Cables is also planning redundancies. Even 900 people may lose job there. Also motoring industry is undergoing stagnation. Opel in Gliwice suspended production for two weeks. However, it is only a foretaste of what may happen in this field. The next step may be compulsory holidays for the workers or even redundancies.

Producing trailers and tripper trucks Wielton from Wieluń will fire 200 workers. In turn, MAN in Niepołomice wants to reduce employment dismissing 150 people.

Also in the hotel branch are expected severe cuts in employment. Arrival tourism to Poland in comparison to the last year decreased for about 10%, and increasing recession will probably make it worse. Next to hotels also training centres, SPA and farms of beauty may be forced to reduce employment.

Malaise in the building sector influences the real estate trade market. Polish Federation of Estate Market concentrating more than 2,5 thousand companies estimates that even a half of agencies may be threatened.
