European Parliament debates on the fate of Polish shipyards
The European Commission is asking the Polish government to cooperate on the issue of Polish shipyards. Meanwhile, Members of European Parliament are calling on Brussels to show more flexibility in talks with Warsaw. Is it possible that the problem of Polish shipyards may still be solved without major economic losses for Poland?
The European Parliament in Strasbourg was the venue of a debate on the future of Polish shipyards on Tuesday.
European commissioner for competition said it was Poland's turn to help with introducing plans to partially shut down Gdansk and Szczecin shipyards.
Meanwhile, Eurodeputies have been calling on the commission to show more leniency and allow the weak shipyards to keep the state aid they received, especially now, in the times when Brussels grants huge public aid to banks.
