DELL is moving from Ireland to Poland

DELL, the second biggest producer of computers in the world, is moving from Ireland to Poland. In the area of Łodź will be built another production plant employing 3000 people. It means that at least 2000 Irish will lose their job. "It is hard to say how many families will be destroyed within the next 12 months" said the inhabitnans of Limerick.

DELL informed them that the relocation will be done gradually in 2009. It is a part of economical plan thanks to which DELL will save 3 billion dollar. Therefore they expect employment reduction by 1900 people within the next 12 months.

The first group of emplyees will leave the company in April and the final reduction is planned on January 2010. The dismissed will receive attractive redundancy payments, and will be given a helping hand in finding a new job. For the company in Łodz the decision means further growth in production and employment. They started-up in January 2005 as the second DELL's production plant in Europe. The company is 35000 square metres in area. It cost 200 million Euro. DELL is a global supplier of computers. It occupies the 34th position on the "Fortune500" list.
